This database is most effective when we share!
These materials will be evaluated by EDIT Media’s Teaching Materials editorial board and may count as a formal publication.
While primarily focused on teaching production, materials that involve media studies are also welcome. We seek syllabi, assignments, exercises, activities, video clips, and slide decks/PowerPoints that do one or more of the following:
- Ask students to investigate representation, privilege, and identity (their own and others) in their media work
- Feature diverse groups of media makers and representations (women, people of color, LGBTQ groups, people with disabilities, etc.)
- Encourage discussion about (lack of) diversity in media industries, gendered roles, implicit bias, etc.
- Foster structured and accountable collaboration
- Integrate traditional/scholarly research skills into the creative process
- Connect students with communities and social issues, such as service-learning courses in production
- Blend theory and practice
- Promote cooperative learning
- Emphasize active and experiential learning
- Provide opportunities to learn interpersonal skills like conflict resolution and assertiveness
- Emphasize student reflection on their creative choices
- Include productive constraints on creative work (for skillbuilding that avoids problematic representations or stereotypes)
Please remove all identifying information from your materials if you wish to remain anonymous, and redact any other information you do not wish to share. By submitting your materials, you agree that, if selected, these files will be freely available for others to use and adapt, unless you include a Creative Commons license on your documents. Thank you!
